Top Dog

Space Dog

Good to get a chance to use this old childrens encyclopedia image that reminded me of a dog bowl for ages! Finding a suitable mutt was quite hard and in the end had to use this b&w image . I wanted to have him biting the frisbee-like space station but decided it was far too tricky! I'll leave all that clever snipping to Angelica!

Trains Planes and Automobiles

The Flying Scotsman

Soul Train

A train ride so smooth, you'll feel like you're floating on a cloud. The conductor, St. Christopher, will get you there safely. Free fish, bread, and wine on every trip. Live harp music on Saturday nights. One way tickets only.

The 2178 to Xhainfungi

Found a great book this morning called Peoples Of Many Lands from which this image is partly taken. It was only a quid. It was from the same bookstall in the market I got the "book covers" book from. He had 5 more volumes which I was tempted to buy but didn't want to risk a hernia! If he has anymore left by Friday I may buy another. It has one great chapter about the police forces of the world and the strange uniforms they wear! I'm sure they will turn up in future collages. The steam engine is from a children's encyclopedia.

Soap Opera

The Viewers Viewed

Not Much On TV ?

Several terrible old jokes here, jostling for position and I choose the most obvious!

Proper-gander

Images gleaned from National Geographic and various other magazines and children's encyclopedias, of which i have many. Too many! I must have a clear-out soon and get rid of some before they all topple over and I get buried in a book avalanche!

Swallow Post

Janet Klein (& her Parlour Boys) sent me the swallow image on a fancy postcard a couple of years ago when I enquired about her latest recording. The other clippings are from a children's encyclopedia and some party streamer.

Birdman of Alcatrouser.

How could we have forgotten that stirring tale of redemption and millet smuggling. Here we see the birdman being set free after many years behind bars. All he had for compnay was a small bell, a ladder and a cuttlefish called Albert.

Dancing Beak to Beak

Garden of Birdy Delights

There I go again with my promises of an original and find myself adding to another old Boomerang card of Marilyn Monroe I made a few years back. I just can't resist using the frame and this small clipping of the Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch fits so well in it and becomes the Garden of Birdy Delights!

Budgie Time

Cheating a bit here as this is an old postcard that Boomerang made of one of my old Valentine cards to Hazel. Every now and again I like to cut out that middle circle and add a new border and collage it some more. Also it has parrots and blue birds on it already!

Hah Horse Lingerys Woman

Mall O'Rex's classic noveletto of unrequited ping-pong. The gripping tale of 18th century dandies and the horse defectives. One of O'rex's most startling original books, long out of print and now available for a limited time printed on rye grass and paddock trimmings. Leather and wattle bound and stamped with a rubber biscuit.

A Dreamline of Madomtry

Someone had too much to dream last night! Maybe it was those cheese and pickles at the midnight feast? Or a bad case of the parson's lunch.

Mushroom Greed

I used one of the covers that A1 sent me. Thanks Michael!

The Restmiss of Bentavurone

Darby Loldosh's classic tale of horrible medical experiments in the old west.

Way Onother

The sad story of a tranvestite Mick Jagger impersonator who gets tricked into marrying a living corpse by the evil hideously scarred stepsister who runs the asylum for demented zombies. This is the first in the trilogy by Wanta Belters - the others are I Flumped The Portal and Trilby Time Tunnel. All written by Belters whilst he was himself in a home for the artistically insane.

Artling Stories

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

John found me a stack of book dustjackets at an estate sale yesterday. The lady was a teacher so I think she might have used these for art projects. The library probably pulled them off before having the hardback covering applied. Michael and Arty, if you want any, let me know and I will send some your way.

This turkey collage was made from one of the dustjackets.

Mad Jary's Budgie Dilemma

Scrap

Here's the first collage for the new blog which seems appropriate enough. This may start a theme of book or literature related collages this week? I will have to see what my fellow scrappers think.
I've been making these amended book covers for a while now after finding a great volume of old victorian book cover art for a pound at a local market stall. The chap who runs it usually charges quite bit for his "antique" books and magazines but sometimes he has a clear-out and sells some for a nominal ammount. I don't feel so bad about cutting them up then!

I wonder if you can guess the original title of the book and it's author?
