I love the different viewpoints.
The beauty of art is that we see what we want to see based on our life experience and not necessarily on what the artist intended to say. I prefer for it to work that way rather than ramble on what it means to me. :-)Scrapatoriumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17384588219074080050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14082483.post-9514281627356516812007-08-24T09:28:00.000-05:002007-08-24T09:28:00.000-05:00Angelica, lots of different reactions! I guess I was reading it in a literal context of the late 50's-early 60's pieces. Oh well, so much for women's lib.Artists With Artitudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10440267930351802396noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14082483.post-34541976472950584722007-08-23T18:42:00.000-05:002007-08-23T18:42:00.000-05:00They seem to be getting away from him. He's seated on the couch, excitedly forward and broadly smiling, but his fixed flat stare over the puppets' heads and his stuck-on smile only make him seem more pitiful.

The 1960s furnishings and feel of the room--for once in collage--are not employed for Pop art or other satire but instead invoke the melancholy of the remote and of the bygone. Layers of sadnes here...

As for craft, signs of cutting and pasting are so invisible as to make the image seem a wonderfully unified photograph.

I am very moved by this one.eccepuerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14888513741263738417noreply@blogger.com
