Altered Cigar Box Purse

I know this has nothing to do with this weeks theme. Just thought I'd share this purse I made. I found it in a thrift store and I altered it over the past few days. It was just a plain white cigar box. I added everything you see.

Sloppy

I only had access to a camera for a day so... this is what I came up with.

Ticker Tape Machine

I tried to use things that I already had at home to make this assemblage.  The 1970s glass dome came from a thrift shop and it once held dried flowers and a fake butterfly.  The rubber stamp and tape dispenser are vintage office supplies from my collection.  I did use something new which was the Wall Street Journal.  I lifted the stocks off the page with clear tape and applied it to the old tape to create the ticker tape.

Taking Junk For A Walk

Stuff I picked up on walking to town and back. The road sweeper goes round on a regular basis so the streets are relatively clean so pickings were slim. Had enough to fill this child's wooden necklace maker set I found in a charity shop. Not sure which I prefer, the minimal arrangement without the necklace beads or with all the beads and letters added so uploading both.

The Knee Bone's Connected to the Thigh Bone

For this assemblage I used bits and pieces I already had. An old wooden box, celluloid doll arms, puzzle blocks to which I glued vintage anatomical images, flash attachment from a twin lens reflex camera, a marsupial skull and a bird bone found on a hiking trip to Tasmania. I used two different types of glue (strong craft glue and superglue) - the blocks are not attached and can be moved around and rotated. The "head" can also be rotated at the base of the flash attachment (for batteries) which has a thread.

Face Box

I went looking for interesting flotsam and jetsam but didnt find much except lots of bottle tops and can rings. Hazel gave a cigar box of old metal bits which i have played with. The result is rather pathetic and I'm sure I can do better! Still, it's a start!

Theme of the Week - Assemblage

Make something in 3 dimensions.  Since this theme requires a little more time, it will run for two weeks.

Theme of the Week - Punwit

Our friend, Punwit, has been having computer and scanner problems. I thought it would be nice to make pun related postcard collages this week and mail them to him to tell him how much we miss him. Post them here and then mail them off to him. If you need his address, email me and I will give it to you.
