Behind Every Great Man

This is my entry for the Visual AIDS Postcards From the Edge Benefit. There is still time if you'd like to donate a postcard size piece of artwork to this worthy cause. Find more information here.

Please Welcome New Member Craig Howarth

I live in Brooklyn, NY and have been working in collage for about a year and a half. After buying a collage by Robert Mars at a local art gallery, I became interested in how he created the piece so I began researching and discovered the world of collage (turns out the Mars piece was a paper collage with paint and an image transfer over top it all). I was immediately intrigued and decided to try it for myself. I've tried many of the techniques that I have read about or was introduced to in classes, but my current style uses Jonathon Talbot's technique in which each collage element is coated with gloss medium and attached to the piece using a hot iron. My influences are Winston Smith, John Evans, Jiri Kolar, and greats such as Kurt Schwitters.
