Wow. You're really good. Quick question (which you're obviously under no obligation whatsoever to answer): do you prefer grayscale, subtle shades, or bright bursts of color? I'm just starting out and my collages haven't really had a theme so far. Do you think it's important that art that you have created has a defining feature which will allow others to identify it as yours? Sorry. That was two questions. You don't have to answer either.
So beautiful Paul! I love the scraps of text. I end up throwing away so much text after I cut out the images, but you made me realize that it can be used.
nom de guerre...I don't try and aim for a specific style. I have been collaging for years and years and lots of my collages are just in books-I paste up the pages like a scrap book. Some of my work is very little more than images I like that I have pasted in..others much more controlled and precise. I often paint, scratch, varnish tear and fold images, I like the distressed look and often have soaked old collages in water to peel of an image I wanted to reuse and paste it back somewhere else. I don't really mind if it gets damaged in the process.
Over the last two or three years I have added a lot of watercolour glazes and blobs of colour..and I like that
