Tough Guy Matches

I worked around a Victorian match box I had. It has four compartments for matches. Each compartment has a match striking surface next to it. I collaged the inside of each compartment with paper and the underside (that has now become the top) with paper, a bit of an old measuring tape, a bit of an old paper doily and some of the matches that were still inside the box. Each compartment is slightly smaller than a modern matchbox (see measuring tape for scale) and the handles are made of buttons.

This is so brilliant - puts mine to shame! I don't call things awesome much but this really is!

Very cool and like the 4 compartment idea -

I like this theme, but haven't seen a matchbook box of matches out here in yrs - will keep searching -

The box is interesting even without decoration (never seen one before), but your art has elevated it to be an amazing object! Love the colors and designs you chose.
