Girdles were big business at one time. There are lots of ads in my old magazines for them. Even thin women wore them to achieve the perfect silhouette. Thank goodness that phase of fashion is over!
Torture I guess. I have a very distant memory of when I was about four watching my mum wriggling into one. It felt like armour plating if she gave you a hug!
