Who's On Next?

I have a nasty habit of forgetting which theme I am supposed to be doing!

Nobody Likes a Quitter

Please welcome our newest member, Jim Kaufmann!

My interest in collage is recent, surprising, and endlessly pleasurable. I think it began in November when I went to Minneapolis to see Gary Taxali and his paintings at an Ox-Op Gallery opening. That same weekend Minneapolis had Art Attack!, a huge open studio event, and there was just tons of art to absorb. On the way back my wife and I stopped at the SPAM Museum in Austin, MN. Somehow all of this, plus a stalled-out novel, added up to an obsession with making art, most of it collage. It feels like home. As for influences, I like the usual suspects--Hoch, Schwitters, Rauschenberg, Cornell. On the more contemporary side I like Bill Zindel and Jason Sherry.

Queen of Hearts

I'll start it off with an oldie from the Scrapatorium files.

Theme of the week - LOVE

With Valentine's Day around the corner, what better theme than LOVE for this week!

Sigfried and Jesus

I wasn't going to make anything this week because I don't like clowns or the circus (and therefore don't have any relevant materials), but then I remembered this older piece, which is probably as close as I'm gonna get :)

Old Circus Poster

I had this old circus poster on our wall for years and kept adding stickers and bits and bobs until I sent it to a mail art show or someone? I can't remember who but this wasin the 80's and this is the only record I have of it .
