The Tween Years

At ten years old, I loved roller skating, playing games, drawing, listening to upbeat cheesy music (tapes shown are Donny & Marie, Bay City Rollers, K.C. & The Sunshine Band, and soundtrack to Thank God It's Friday), and reading comics like Mad, Crazy, Cracked, Weirdo and secretly peeking at my uncle's stash of National Lampoon mags. I think my early reading material proves that I was a bit strange and corny even at a young age.

Mine is actually just a photograph of some personal stuff when I was young. Hope that is OK. You may need to click on it to see it in more detail.

Fun With Dick And Dad

My Back Pages

I too, used the arrange under the scanner lid technique as I am rather busy at the moment but hopefully will get round to doing a proper collage by the end of the week! Here you see the first page in my "family album" using some photos of me as a baby and later on as a small boy and the one at the bottom was doctored at art school in the 60's when I had access to a darkroom and cut up some old negatives ( oh the sacrilege!)- before the days of Photoshop ofcourse. Computers then were housed in whole rooms and had a memory of 1mb ! How things have changed. How I've changed too!

Formative Years...

The first album I bought was Kiss "Alive". Used to get cherry Cokes at the lunch counter of the sundries store downtown, a half-mile walk. You could also buy greeting cards & household needs, browse the magazine racks, get your hunting license & tag your deer there. And while my first ones were Miller High-Life (years after Cub Scouts), I've now graduated to drinking beer.

Theme of the Week - Your Youth

I want to see some collages that deal with your youth. How you dressed, what you read, the music you listened to, what you were into in general. This one might date us, but it should be fun! Now where did I leave those old Tiger Beat mags?

Abombic Tomb

The Dream of Nagasaki

Sorry I have not been here much lately...things a bit chaotic on the home front.

Sorry you are out of Flickr Michael...will miss you there...

Anyway...cheers everybody

Cow Heart Japan Man

Sorry for being so tardy in getting back here but have been busy getting well and doing some Spring cleaning. I have given up my Flickr stream and just on Treemo for the moment, though that may change. I have some new mail art projects on the boil which some of you might like to take part in.

The "LET YOUR POSTCARDS DO THE WALKING" is a similar to the "HANDY POSTCARD EXCHANGE" of a few years ago - only this time you have to draw round your bare foot( or feet ) onto some thin card and then decorate it whichever way you fancy - collage, rubber stamp, drawing, watercolour etc. Some examples here at the the blog I've just started to display the work sent in-

http://stickerset.blogspot.com/

I hope this gives you some ideas. Hopefully an exhibition is planned for March 2008 - so thats the deadline for entries. Send as many as you want. Everyone gets a foot shaped card from me in exchange. Possible catalogue if I can raise the funding from the local arts body. Have fun!

Thanks for all the fine GET WELL collages. I was very touched that you should think of me.
