Yes-I think they were part of the pre manned space programme. I think these were part of the US programme, I suspect that both these pooches, like Laika in the USSR were not expected to survive re-entry. I think the dog's space suit is fascinating though.

I think the doggy space suit is very interesting too. I guess there would be no need for a pooper scooper in space?
